Finding Strength in Sisterhood: The Unexpected Bonds of Surrogacy

Writer: Hive SurrogacyHive Surrogacy

When you first look into surrogacy, it can feel like a lot to take in. The first thing many people do is search on Google, and suddenly you’re bombarded with agency after agency. It can be a little overwhelming, especially if you don’t have friends who’ve been through it, or someone to point you in the right direction. You’re left trying to figure out who to trust, who has the experience you’re looking for, and how to find the right fit for your journey.

One of the biggest things that stands out about surrogacy is the amount of support you need, not just physically, but emotionally too. It’s crucial to have a solid support system surrounding you—whether it’s your partner, the intended parents, your friends, or the staff at your clinic. Each of these people plays such an important role in making sure you feel heard, valued, and supported as you go through the ups and downs of the process.

For me, when I joined Hive, I never could have anticipated the friendships I’d make. I never imagined how deeply connected I’d feel to a group of women I didn’t even know before. It’s like walking into a sisterhood you didn’t know you needed, and suddenly, it feels like home. There’s something so special about connecting with other women who are all on this same mission—to help bring a couple’s dream of parenthood to life, to create families, and to be a part of something truly beautiful.

I’ve always been surrounded by wonderful friends who’ve supported me throughout my life, and they were all incredibly supportive of my decision to pursue surrogacy. But when I joined Hive, I got something even more—this incredible community of women, all coming together for the same reason. It wasn’t just about the surrogacy experience itself; it was the bonds we formed, the way we lifted each other up, the strength we found in each other’s stories.

At Hive, I’ve made lifelong friends—friends who motivate me, encourage me, and cheer me on. These are women who truly understand what I’m going through. We’ve shared so much of this experience together, and I never would have met them if it weren’t for surrogacy and Hive bringing us all together. These women are more than just fellow surrogates—they’ve become my sisters, my sounding boards, and my support system in ways I never expected.

Having that group of strong, empowering women around me has been such a gift. It’s about so much more than surrogacy; it’s about creating lasting relationships, sharing experiences, and knowing that you’re never alone in your journey. These women have taught me so much about strength, resilience, and the power of community.

And that’s what I want others to know: surrogacy isn’t just about helping someone else have a child—it’s about the connections you make along the way, the friendships you form, and the support you find. For me, it’s been a reminder that no matter how challenging things can get, there’s always a sisterhood to lean on, a group of women who truly understand and will be there for you through it all.

So if you’re just starting out, know this: it’s okay to feel unsure or overwhelmed. But the right people are out there, and sometimes the bonds you form along the way are more valuable than you could ever imagine. You’re not alone. Whether it’s through an agency like Hive or another community, there’s support, there’s sisterhood, and there’s always someone ready to walk beside you.
